The PADI Assistant Instructor (AI) course is the next step along in the professional diver ladder. By now you obviously have a passion for diving and teaching and this course further allows you to share your love of the underwater world with others.
You’ve already successfully completed the PADI Divemaster course and you’ve logged at least 60 dives. Now it’s time to move that bit nearer towards the full PADI Instructor qualification.
The PADI Assistant Instructor course is the first part for the Instructor Development Course (IDC).
It will teach you how to conduct classroom presentations, and how different students learn in different ways, and how to engage them. You will gain experience in both the pool and open water too, so that after the course you can evaluate a number of courses and skills independently, as well as teaching academic presentations.
Just like the PADI Divemaster course, the PADI Assistant Instructor course is not one to be rushed. There is no set time limit for completion other than your grasp of the knowledge. You could, after completing your Divemaster course, enrol directly onto the PADI IDC and incorporate the AI course at the same time, but there are many advantages in being an AI first. Please come in to see us and we can discuss the path that suits you best.
In early 2020 the Instructor development course was revised and it will be exciting to teach the new course to the next group of Candidates. Please watch this space!!
Any other options?
Of course there are. We always have options in life.
Instead of coming along to us for all your study sessions, why not download the PADI Dive Theory papers and prepare for your exams at home? That way you can complete some of your academic studies on line in your own time and then come to us for the classroom sessions, pool and open water dives.
You can find details and sign up for your PADI Dive Theory here.
