PADI Junior Open Water Diver

The PADI Junior Open Water Diver course…

Newlt qualified Junior Open Water Diver

So as long as you are 10 years and older you can enrol on this course… The PADI Junior Open Water Diver course is exactly the same as the adult version except for a couple of points.  Between the ages of 10-12 years depth is restricted to 12 metres and upon certification you must dive with a parent/guardian or a PADI Professional. Between 12-15 years you are allowed to dive with an adult to 18 metres.   Most junior divers, but by no means all, complete their course together with other members of their family.  That way if one of you is struggling a bit with the academic portion, the kids can give you a hand.  You think I’m joking don’t you!? They complete the same skills in the pool and cover exactly the same lessons in the classroom and then go on to enjoy exactly the same diving.  That way you get to enjoy both your PADI Open Water Course along with your diving, as a family.  Once the diver reaches 15, both the depth and the dive buddy restrictions are removed and he or she can upgrade to the full PADI Open Water Diver status.
